Maxie’s Restaurant and Lounge has been a locally-owned and operated family restaurant since it opened in 1967. Rich in tradition, Maxie’s has been serving the Des Moines community for nearly 45 years. Currently under ownership by its fourth owner, Tim Kellogg is committed to carrying on the Maxie’s tradition.

Maxie’s is known for its extensive menu and value-oriented products within our American cuisine. Widely known and recognized for our delicious award-winning Maxieburger, Reuben, Rarebit Burger, and Cityview’s “Best of Des Moines” Maxie’s Homemade Onion Rings, which have won several years in a row including 2011.

Located on Grand Ave. in West Des Moines, Maxie’s offers a lounge where customers are invited for Happy Hour from 4:30-6:30 Sunday through Thursday for 2 for 1 drinks. Maxie’s is also able to accommodate parties of up to 50 in our party room. The party room accepts reservations Sunday through Thursday.

ABOUT TIM

Tim Kellogg, owner of Cabaret West Glen, purchased Maxie’s Restaurant on December 14th, 2010. Tim has been a long-time Maxie’s customer since he moved to West Des Moines in 1976. Since his retirement with QuikTrip Corporation (where he worked in Human Resources and Customer Service for 20 years), he has owned and operated Cabaret Lounge in Clive, The CAB Lounge in Johnston, and continues to own and operate Cabaret West Glen in West Des Moines.

It has been Tim’s long-time dream to buy Maxie’s from good friend Jim Glen, who owned Maxie’s for 25 years. Tim is dedicated to maintaining the service and quality that customers have come to expect from this dining tradition, and he welcomes any and all feedback. Maxie’s has been a Des Moines dining tradition for over 40 years.
